Square Enix has been on a roll lately with their newest titles, such as Final Fantasy VII Remake, their upcoming Marvel’s Avengers and more. However, there is one more title that they’ve teased back in February called Outriders. The game is set to feature:
“1-3 player co-op RPG shooter set in an original, dark and desperate sci-fi universe. As mankind bleeds out in the trenches of Enoch, you’ll create your own Outrider and embark on a journey across the hostile planet. With rich storytelling spanning a diverse world, you’ll leave behind the slums and shanty towns of the First City and traverse forests, mountains and desert in the pursuit of a mysterious signal.”
With the development team, People Can Fly – the team behind Bulletstorm, Fornite, Gears of War, Gears of War: Judgement, Painkiller and many others, there’s no scoffing at the talent that the studio has based on its past merits. As said previously, back in February a Gameplay Presentation was shown off on the official Outriders YouTube Channel, which left many confused on how it played out. Personally, I felt it had a very gears of war-esque type of style, while implementing a Destiny / Division feel to it.
Earlier today, the team released a press release stating the following, talking about a monthly video presentation on the status of the game:
“Obviously, things are a little bit strange in the world right now, and we’re all adapting the best we can. We’ve prioritized our people’s safety and all 250+ of us on the team are working from home and staying healthy. We’re still working hard on the development of OUTRIDERS and keeping on track for a Holiday 2020 release,” said Bartek Kmita, Creative Director at People Can Fly. “With the cancellation of some of gaming’s biggest events of the year, we’ve looked for new ways to share news about Outriders with players. We’re really excited to present new details of what we’re working on every month from this point forward with the OUTRIDERS Broadcasts.”
This was accompanied by their latest video on the matter:
OUTRIDERS will release on PlayStation 5®, PlayStation 4®, Xbox Series X, the Xbox One family of devices, and PC in Holiday 2020.
